Mississippi Valley State University Apparel
In 1950, Mississippi Vocational College opened its doors with the intent on training teachers for rural and elementary schools as well as providing vocational training. Operating in a time of extremely heightened racial tensions, MVC acted as an opportunity for African American and Black students who may otherwise have been turned away from whites-only institutions. 14 years later, the school had grown, and the updated name Mississippi Valley State College reflected that. In the 1970s, civil rights leaders fought against educational inequality in Mississippi, and as a result of their work, the school was renamed to Mississippi Valley State University in 1974. In the time since, MVSU has grown to over 2,000 students and has garnered numerous achievements. In 1965, its marching band, the Mean Green Marching Machine became the first predominately African American band to play in the Tournament of Roses parade. The forest green, red, and white Delta Devils have been honored to have the likes of Jerry Rice play for their football team. We're very proud to include MVSU in our officially licensed apparel offerings. When you order from this collection, a portion of the proceeds will be given back to MVSU! Whether you're a student, alumni, or supporter, shopping our Mississippi Valley apparel will provide aid for the school.
